The streets of Victorian England roar to life as Oliver, an orphan, escapes his workhouse life and heads to London where finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow, takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of a family. This Tony and Olivier Award-winning show is one of the few musicals to win an Academy Award for Best Picture and is widely hailed as a glorious theatrical masterpiece by actors and audience members alike!

Join us for a unique show featuring the talents of our Mountain Page Players and Young Actors Krew. Auditions for this show will be held at the same time as the auditions for Oliver. Those cast in the roles of Oliver, Nancy, Fegan, and the Artful Dodger will perform a few preview songs from Oliver as part of the Variety Show. Anyone interested in participating in this show should be ready to take part in multiple group songs. They will also have the opportunity to lead a group song or perform a solo song. Additionally, we can provide partners for songs that have more than one soloist. Songs should primarily be from Broadway or Disney-style musicals. All song choices are subject to director approval and must be performed for the creative team. Songs with adult language or inappropriate content will only be considered if the performer plans to alter the content for all audiences. Ages 9+ will be considered for solo songs. Ages 5+ will be considered for part of a children's ensemble.

Performances: Three of our performances will take place at Mountain Page Theater. The 4th performance will be at The Albino Skunk Music Festival which is a family-friendly music festival in Greer, SC, 38 minutes from the theater. Performers and family volunteers will receive a free 3-day festival pass which includes camping. You do not have to camp to participate in the Variety Show. (But it is SO fun, I have been to the last 3 Skunkfests with my 4, now 5-year-old daughter, and we have a BLAST!)

Performance Dates: May 2, 3, 4, 10

Director: Ashley Sandahl
